HIGH SCHOOL SOPHOMORE

- Take the PSAT or PLAN in the fall if your school offers it
- Take some challenging courses

- Continue to be involved in school activities
- Continue to be involved in volunteer / community activities
- Continue to "read to achieve"
- Visit more college campuses
- Take a look at the list of senior college acceptances in the spring
- You may take an SAT II Subject Test at the end of the year (tak with your counselor)
HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR
- Keep in mind; this is the most important year academically
- Continue to think about your future
- Going for the best grades
- Take the PSAT or PLAN in the fall
- Continue to be involved in school activities, try to move into positions of responsibility or leadership
- Continue to be involved in volunteer / community activities, try to move into positions of responsibility or leadership
- Start the college process (the process begins in the late fall)
- Planning for standardized tast taking
- Select your courses for senior year carefully
- Research colleges and gather information
- Ddevelop an initial list of colleges during the spring
HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR
- Continue to think about your future
- Going for the best grades
- Continue to be involved in school activities, take responsibility and show your leadership
- Continue to be involved in volunteer / community activities, take responsibility and show your leadership
- Continue to visit colleges, add or subtract colleges from your list as you learn about schools
- Be attentive to in-school deadlines and procedures
- Continue to take standardized tests as needed
- Meet with college representatives who visit your school in the fall
- If you plan to applyearly, be attentive to the deadlines (Deadlines may be just a few weeks after school begins)
- Make arrangements with teachers and others for recommendations
- Give yourself plenty of time to work on applications and essay writing
- Get information of financial aid and scholarship
- Take advantage of interviews when given the opportunity
- As you receive decisions, inform your counselor, teachers, and others who helped you
- Participate in the open house/ accepted student programs hosted by colleges in the spring
